Desporto e inclusão social: uma análise de organizações e instituições desportivas e políticas públicas desportivas

Abstract

O desporto pode ser um meio eficaz de inclusão social. O presente estudo tentou perceber de que modo contribui o desporto para uma sociedade mais inclusiva. No estudo deste problema, foram contextualizadas as organizações e instituições desportivas e políticas públicas desportivas, de que modo interagem neste processo e como se interligam a conceitos como o capital social e o empowerment. O estudo surge na sequência do estágio curricular do mestrado em Ciência Política, do Departamento de Ciências Sociais, Políticas e do Território, pertencente à Universidade de Aveiro. O estágio teve lugar no Instituto Português do Desporto e Juventude I.P. de Viana do Castelo, e teve como objetivo o contato direto com organizações e instituições que cooperam e desenvolvem projetos desportivos inclusivos com a instituição. Foi utilizada a entrevista semiestruturada como método de recolha de dados. Todos os entrevistados pertencem a organizações e instituições que desenvolvem projetos com o IPDJ. As principais conclusões permitiram verificar a importância das organizações e instituições desportivas e das políticas públicas desportivas na inclusão social através do desporto. Foi ainda evidenciada a falta de investigação na área.

Sport can be an effective instrument of social inclusion. This study tried to understand how sport contributes to a more inclusive society. In the study of this problem, sports organisations and institutions and sports policies were contextualized, in which way they interact in this process and how they connect to concepts such as social capital and empowerment. The study follows the internship of the master’s degree in Political Science, from the Department of Social, Political and Territorial Sciences, belonging to the University of Aveiro. The internship took place at the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth I.P. of Viana do Castelo and aimed at direct contact with organisations and institutions that cooperate and develop inclusive sports projects with the institution. The semi-structured interview was used as a method of data collection. All interviewees belong to organisations and institutions that develop projects with IPDJ. The main conclusions made it possible to verify the importance of sports organisations and institutions and of sports policies in social inclusion through sport. The lack of research in the area has also been highlighted.
