| pt_PT |
dc.description.abstract | Upon completion of high education, as well as their peers, there are young people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD), with limitations in intellectual functioning and Adaptive Behavior, who wish to continue their academic education. Despite the increase of inclusive curricular initiatives in Higher Education (HE) for people with IDD at the international level, it is clear that in Portugal it is still a relatively recent process. This study, framed in the INclUA Project, aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals - Quality Education and Reducing Inequalities - highlighting the central importance of education and training in seeking to reverse delays and avoid exclusion with direct impacts on well-being and promoting lifelong learning for all people. The purpose of this study is to understand the process of inclusion of a young adult with IDD in a university context, based on the voices of the teachers responsible for a curricular unit (CU) she attained, within the regular HE Institution offer. Thus, it aims to identify the perceptions of the responsible HE teachers, about the participation of a young woman with IDD in the classes of a regular CU of a bachelor degree course, during a semester, identifying facilitating factors faced within the inclusion process. This study is part of a broader ongoing investigation. For data collection, a semistructured interview was used. Preliminary results obtained from the generated data suggest that, with appropriate support and pedagogical methodologies, it is desirable, desired and possible to include young people with IDD in curricular units of the HE Institution regular offer. | pt_PT |
