investigação-ação, desenvolvido numa turma do 3.º ano do 1.º
The report presented here is based on an action-research project, developed in a class of the 3rd year of the Primary Years, in the context of the English subject. Throughout this study, the intention was to answer the research question: How to develop, in English classes in the Primary Years, an identity more open to the Other? Thus, a didactic intervention project was designed and implemented, with the duration of five sessions and meant to achieve the following objectives: identify ways of building an identity more open to the Other, understanding whether the study of the Self and the Other allows for greater openness to the Other and to analyze if the study of the topics covered in the sessions contributes to greater curiosity for the Other and openness to difference. This project followed a qualitative methodology with research-action features. Data were collected using different techniques and instruments such as direct observation of classes, video recordings, children's work and questionnaire surveys. Several pedagogicaldidactic resources were used, from which we highlight picturebooks. After analyzing the data, the conclusions were that the students increased their awareness about the concept of identity, about their identity and that of the Other, about Children's Rights and about languages; they showed openness to the Other and were able to propose ways of asserting their inalienable rights. In conclusion, it is possible to articulate English language teaching in an intercultural approach with the construction of identities that are more open to the Other based on the study of the Self, thus contributing to the formation of citizens more capable of welcoming the Other. |
