reação e a decantação.
catalisador/ON (óleo neutro), razão molar álcool/ON e temperatura.
This report is the result of the curricular project carried out in collaboration with one of the national biodiesel production companies, Prio Bio, S.A. The first phase of the work took place at the company's facilities in the Port of Aveiro in order to get acquainted with the operational procedures and raw materials currently in use on the industrial biodiesel production process. The second part was carried out at the laboratory of the Department of Environment and Planning of the University of Aveiro to reproduce, at laboratory scale, two stages of the production process: reaction and decantation. This part focused on optimizing the reaction step with the MeOK (potassium methylate) catalyst, researching the optimal operating conditions, such as the catalyst / NO (neutral oil) mass ratio, alcohol / ON molar ratio and temperature. The response surface methodology was adopted In the statistical data treatment of the results, using the Statistica® software. The statistically most significant operating variables in the yield of the transesterification reaction were identified, and the response surface showed the effect of those variables. One concluded that the mass ratio of catalyst / ON and alcohol / ON molar ratio are statistically significant (95% confidence level) in the reaction yield, on the other hand, the temperature (40-60 °C) is not significant in the reaction yield. The highest reaction yield obtained was 93.6 % for a catalyst / NO mass ratio of 0.89 %, alcohol / ON molar ratio of 10.2 and temperature of 44 °C. |
