Reforço com geossintéticos de muros das marinhas da Ria de Aveiro

Abstract

A necessidade de intervenção nos muros das marinhas de sal da Ria de Aveiro é evidente. Para tal é necessário estudar soluções estruturais para o seu reforço, pois as técnicas usadas no passado mostram-se incapazes de proporcionar a durabilidade e funcionalidade desejada para estas estruturas. Neste trabalho é estudada a solução de reforço deste tipo de muros recorrendo à aplicação de geossintéticos. Ele incidiu no estudo de um muro real e de um perfil com características genéricas. Procurou-se ainda estudar a construção destes muros recorrendo a materiais de aterro tradicionais (solos granulares) e materiais de aterro não convencionais, ou seja, os solos finos locais. Consoante o tipo de material de aterro considerado, foram estudadas diferentes soluções, recorrendo a geossintéticos adequados e de diferentes tipos. Da pesquisa bibliográfica realizada resultou a aplicação de diferentes métodos para realizar o dimensionamento interno destes muros. Assim, este foi realizado através dos métodos de método de Jewell (1996) e do método do Nordic Handbook (Rogbeck et al., 2002), para solos granulares, e através do método descrito por Naugthon et al. (2001), para solos finos. Para completar o dimensionamento destes muros realizou-se ainda a verificação da estabilidade externa através da metodologia do Eurocódigo 7 e a verificação da capacidade de protecção dos muros relativamente à entrada de água para o interior das marinhas. Para proceder à caracterização dos solos em causa foram realizados ensaios “in situ” e de laboratório e foi feita pesquisa bibliográfica. Os resultados obtidos pelas diferentes metodologias e com os vários materiais utilizados são analisados e comparados. São ainda sintetizadas as principais conclusões deste estudo e apontados alguns caminhos futuros para o seu desenvolvimento.

ABSTRACT: The need for intervention in the walls of sea salt marines of the Ria de Aveiro is evident. This requires studying structural solutions to reinforce such walls, as the techniques used in the past proved incapable of providing the durability and functionality required for these structures. In this work the solution for reinforcing this type of walls was studied, by considering the application of geosynthetics. A real wall and a profile with generic features were studied. It was also aimed to study the construction of walls using traditional fill materials (granular soils) and non-conventional fill materials, as the local fine soils. Depending on the type of fill material considered, different solutions were studied, using the appropriate geosynthetics and of different types. From the literature review carried out, resulted the application of different methods to achieve the internal design of these walls. This was done by using the method of Jewell (1996) and the method of the Nordic Handbook (Rogbeck et al., 2002), for granular soils, and the method described by Naugthon et al. (2001), for fine soils. To complete the design of these walls, their external stability was studied, considering the methodology of Eurocode 7, as well as the capability of the walls to protect the salt marines from the entry of water. To carry out the characterization of these soils, tests have been done, both "in situ" and in laboratory as well as literature review. The results obtained by different methods and the various materials are analyzed and compared. The main conclusions of this study are also summarized and some future directions for its development are identified.
