L-1.d-1 no
22,9 g CQO. L-1.d-1 nos reatores intermitentes e 19,6 g CQO. L-1.d-1 no reator
CQO. L-1.d-1 nos reatores intermitentes, e 26 g CQO. L-1.d-1 no reator contínuo
L-1.d-1, o reator intermitente apresentou
(76%). E para as cargas de 38,2 e 26 g CQO. L-1.d-1, o reator intermitente
In the industrial context, the UASB reactors are a technology used for the treatment of types of effluents. The objective of this work was to compare intermittent operation with continuous operation of UASB reactors in treating dairy effluent, and especially with an intermittent operation with cycle times than those that have been published. Beyond this general objective, this work intended to investigate the efficiency of wastewater treatment system in continuous and intermittent operation for the removal of organic matter and production potential of recoverable byproducts such as methane or volatile organic acids. Three UASB reactors were used, two operated in intermittent mode and one operated in continuous mode. The reactors had a volume of 6 liters and operated at a constant mesophilic temperature (38 º C). The feeding was prepared to simulate an effluent from dairy industry. The operation cycle used was 168 hours (96h feeding+72h non-feeding). Initially the load was 22,9 g COD.L-1.d-1 in intermittent reactors and 19,6 g COD.L-1.d-1 at the continuos reactor for 65 days, after the reactors had been stopped for a period of 47 days, they went back into operation with a load of 22,9 g COD.L-1.d-1 in intermittent reactors and 19,6 g COD.L-1.d-1 at the continuos reactor for 11 days, after which the load changed to 38,2 g COD. L-1.d-1 in the intermittent reactors and 26 g COD.L-1.d-1 in continuous reactor for 11 days. Analyses were performed to characterize the biomass by molecular techniques. For loads of 22,9 and 19,6 g COD. L-1.d-1, the intermittent reactors had an % removal of organic matter (77%), higher than the continuous reactor (76%). And for loads of 38,2 and 26 g COD. L-1.d-1, the intermittent reactors had an % removal of organic matter (72%), higher than the continuos reactor (65%). The intermittent reactors had an biogas production potential higher than the continuos reactor and a higher formation of volatile organic acids. The intermittent reactor presented an methanisation % to 43,2% of total cycle and continuos reactor presented 10,6% of methanisation. The intermittent reactor presented a methanisation % in the feeding period 22% and in the feedless period 21,2%. The intermittent reactors showed an average concentration of volatile organic acids of 3433.81 mg/L while the continuos reactor showed a concentration of volatile organic acids of 1817.61 mg/L. The intermittent reactor showed greater gender Syntrophomas % than continuous reactor. From these results we conclude that the intermittent reactors generally have better operation than continuous reactor, however worse works for other cycles published in the literature. |
