Primeiramente fizemos a revisão
revimos as nossas perspectivas do assunto.
abranger as várias faixas etárias populacionais procurando assim conhecer as
A existência do inglês no nosso
educativas. The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of the English language on Portuguese everyday life; to verify if the Portuguese population recognises the existence of the English language in their daily lives. The premise of this study is that English has gradually influenced Portuguese and that our language has been invaded by English words and expressions. So, we tried to discover the perceptions and opinions of others. Firstly, we reviewed expert opinions on linguistic aspects and thus, re-evaluated our perspective on the subject. We tried to discover how the English language penetrates different economical and social areas of communication and then, decided to register the opinion of the population in general. Using data-collection methods, such as interviews and questionnaires, we tried to collect the opinion of the general population, being careful to apply these methods to all age brackets in order to know the opinions of young and old, as well as to people, who by trade, would assure us a credible answer. After analysing these opinions, our initial premise was slightly altered. We recognised that English is part of Portuguese daily life in multiple forms and means; but although it has a significant impact on international scientific and global communications, we are not at risk of seeing the Portuguese language modified or diminished by the English language. The existence of English in our daily lives is a positive aspect, which simultaneously enables globalisation and is a consequence of it. The new educational reform as regards to English as a foreign language is proof of its importance. |
