| Abstract: | Procede-se neste texto a uma leitura do conto O Barão (1942), de Branquinho da Fonseca, numa perspectiva mística: a resultante das múltiplas tensões que o atravessam obedece nitidamente a um apelo ao que há de mais grotesco e animal no Homem para que ascenda à beleza do Bem ou ao bem da Beleza. In this paper we suggest a mystical reading ofBranquinho da Fonseca’s short story, O Barão, attempting tounderline the various tensions intersecting it. The authorsucceeds in disclosing man’s grotesque and animal nature, sothat he can be uplifted to the beauty of goodness or to thegoodness of beauty. |
