Volunteering in humanitarian logistics: a structural equation modeling

Abstract

Humanitarian logistics uses logistic concepts to respond to the countless assists, minimize the improvisations and be effective, in terms of response time. The role of the volunteers is crucial to the efficiency of all the logistic processes. Thus, the volunteer managers need to understand how to capture and motivate the volunteers for humanitarian causes. To perceive the volunteers' motivations, a survey was developed for a food bank. A Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was implemented, that enabled the simultaneous examination of a series of interrelated dependence relationships between the measured variables and latent constructs.
