A imigração chinesa em Portugal: evolução, integração e comunicação intercultural

Abstract

Ao longo das últimas quatro décadas, em particular desde a década de 2000, a comunidade chinesa residente em Portugal tem crescido de forma consistente e, em paralelo, as relações sino-portuguesas têm vindo a estreitar-se cada vez mais. A presente dissertação tem como objetivo geral estudar a questão da adaptação, integração e da comunicação intercultural entre o povo português e o povo chinês. A partir de um questionário realizado à comunidade chinesa, traça-se, por um lado, o perfil deste grupo e, por outro lado, avalia-se a sua perceção no que diz respeito ao seu processo de adaptação ao país, à língua e à cultura portuguesas. Este estudo propõe-se ainda a avaliar e comparar o perfil de três grupos distintos de imigrantes, o que possibilita uma análise mais estreita dos aspetos que subjazem ao processo de adaptação e integração e uma previsão sobre a imigração chinesa no futuro.

Over the past four decades, especially since the decades of 2000, the Chinese community residing in Portugal has been growing in a consistent way and, simultaneously, closer relationships between the two countries have been built. The present dissertation aims at studying the question of adaptation, integration and intercultural communication between Portuguese people and Chinese people. From a questionnaire made to the Chinese community, the present dissertation outlines, on the one hand, the profile of this group and, on the other hand, evaluates its perception with regard to its process of adaptation to the country, the language and to the Portuguese culture. This study also proposes to evaluate and compare the profile of three distinct immigrant groups, which enables a closer analysis of the underlying aspects of the process of adaptation and integration and a prevision about future Chinese immigration to Portugal.
