do mundo. The inclusion of the students with special needs within higher education is a worldwide concern shared by the government of Angola. This work is an exploratory study based on literature relating to inclusive practices in higher education. The purpose is to understand the Angolan State policies on the inclusive paradigm implemented at the Universities, with special focus on the Lueji A´nkonde University. An exploratory case study on the qualitative paradigm was the research methodology, by using the methods of data collection such as semi-structural interviews and document analysis. The participants in the research were the Heads of the departments, professors and students with special needs. The method used for the data processing consisted in the analysis of the content grounded on the construction of categories and sub-categories. The findings indicate that the difficulties the students with special needs have to deal with are associated to the lack of teacher training in special education, lack of adaptive technology for blind students, non-accessible infrastructures, lack of ramps, lifts and adaptive bathrooms. An inclusive university must provide an appropriate educational response for all students and create the conditions that may enable this more vulnerable group of people in Angola, and all over the world, to full participation. |
