| pt_PT |
dc.description.abstract | This dissertation aims to analyze whether the incentives received by Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) have a positive impact on the performance of companies in the Rehabilitation of trenchless pipeline sector, after receipt. In order to meet this objective, the study was based on information from a group of 50 Portuguese companies, collected through the SABI platform, in which 21 companies received subsidies between 2015 and 2018, and the rest did not. A panel data methodology was used to understand if there is any change at a financial level after the company received the incentive. The results indicate that only the size measured through total assets, age, indebtedness and gross value added contribute positively to improving the performance of SMEs in the sample, although the indebtedness reveals an ambiguous result. Regarding the incentive dummy variable, despite its importance in business growth and development strategies, the results indicate that they do not affect the performance of SMEs, at least in the short term, contrary to previous studies using similar approaches. | pt_PT |
