Contributo para o estudo hidrogeológico da carta 19-D Coimbra-Lousã

Abstract

Os recursos hídricos subterrâneos são, quer historicamente, quer nos dias de hoje, uma importante fonte de água para abastecimento urbano, industrial e agrícola. No entanto, estes recursos podem ser afectados, por um lado, por problemas relacionados com a sua sobre-exploração, e por outro, por problemas relacionados com a degradação da qualidade da água subterrânea captada. Nas últimas décadas, assistiu-se a grande desenvolvimento da Hidrogeologia, ramo da Geologia Aplicada que trata do estudo das águas subterrâneas. Na área da folha 19-D Coimbra - Lousã (escala 1:50 000), já foram elaborados alguns trabalhos parcelares. No entanto, nunca foi realizado um estudo que abarque a totalidade da área cartografada nessa folha. Esta dissertação, que se insere no âmbito do desenvolvimento de uma tese de mestrado, pretende ser um primeiro esquisso nesse sentido. Mas esta primeira abordagem a diversos aspectos da hidrogeologia da carta 19-D ressente-se de uma gritante falta de dados que tivesse permitido uma caracterização “mínima” da área em apreço. Por outro lado, a qualidade do material recolhido, é, infelizmente também, muito sofrível, senão mesmo deficiente. Estas razões justificam o título da dissertação (“CONTRIBUTO”), até porque os prazos curtíssimos, impostos pelo “Regulamento” destas provas académicas, não possibilitaram a obtenção, em tempo útil, de dados laboratoriais ou de outra índole.

ABSTRACT: The underground water resources are, either historically or nowadays, an important source of water to urban, industrial and agricultural supply. However, these resources may be affected, on the one hand, by problems related with its over-exploitation, and on the other hand, by problems related with the degradation of the underground water quality. In the last few decades, there was a great development of Hydrogeology, a section of Applied Geology, which deals with the study of underground water. In the area of the 19-D Coimbra - Lousã sheet (scale 1:50 000) have already been drawn up some piecemeal work. However, it was never carried out a study covering the entire area mapped in that sheet. This dissertation, which falls within the development of a Ph. D´s thesis, intends to be a first sketch in that direction. But this first approach to various aspects of the 19-D sheet hydrogeology shows a glaring lack of data, which had allowed a “minimum” characterization of the area in question. Moreover, the quality of the collected material is, unfortunately, very poor, otherwise even deficient. These reasons justify the title of the dissertation (“CONTRIBUTION”), because the very short limits imposed by the “Regulation” of academic evidence, do not make possible the attainment, in useful time, of laboratory data or other kind.
