Jornalistas à experiência: reconstruindo o lugar social de jovens da Torreira numa investigação participativa

Abstract

Partindo do nosso interesse inicial em perceber a forma como os jovens são vistos pela sociedade e, em particular, pelos meios de comunicação social, este projeto de investigação – ação participativa foi construído ao longo 15 meses com um grupo de 26 jovens, com idades compreendidas entre os 14 e os 17 anos, alunos da Escola Básica e Integrada da Torreira. No decorrer do processo de investigação, foi-se tornando evidente que estes jovens, que constituíram três equipas de investigação, manifestavam a interiorização, ainda que não o expressassem, das baixas expectativas sociais relativamente à sua condição social , enquanto jovens, por um lado, e enquanto oriundos de um contexto sócio – económico e sócio – cultural desfavorecido, por outro. Assim sendo, o processo de investigação foi sendo progressivamente orientado para o objetivo de compreender a visão que estes jovens têm de si mesmos e de contribuir, de alguma forma, para a reconstrução do seu lugar social, enquanto atores sociais e agentes da sua própria mudança. Deste trabalho resultou o projeto de investigação que aqui se apresenta, sob o título Jornalistas à experiência: reconstruindo o lugar social de jovens da Torreira numa investigação participativa.

Taking the starting point for the present essay the interest to understand the way society, in particular, the media, look at young people, this investigation/participative action project was built throughout 15 months, with a group of 26 students, aged between 14 and 17 years, of Integrated Basic Education School of Torrreira. During the research process it became evident that these young people, who formed three study teams, demonstrated, although without expressing, some feelings towards their lower social expectations regarding their social status, on one hand, and as coming from a socio - economic and socio – cultural disadvantaged environment on the other. Therefore, the research process has been progressively oriented towards the goal of understanding the vision that these young people have of themselves and to contribute somehow for the reconstruction of their social place, as social actors and agents of their own change.
