Objective: The present study aims to document the acoustic characteristics that define the phonetic realization of the tap, in intervocalic position, complex onset and coda. Method: Were analysed nine informants, with ages between 19 and 27 years old. The corpus comprehended disyllabic words, with tap in intervocalic position, complex onset and coda, in context of occlusive and fricative consonants and vowels [a], [i], [ɔ] e [u]. The annotation was manually realized in Praat. The phonetic manifestations and the acoustic parameters (duration, F1 e F2) were semi-automatically extracted. Results: Concerning the tap’s acoustic manifestations, they are varied, except in intervocalic position, and they may be affected by adjacent context. Regarding duration, it was observed statistically significant differences between intervocalic position and all the other positions, being shorter in intervocalic position. About de svaravhakti vowel, the formant frequencies differ from the ones of the nuclear vowels, but, also, their values aren’t the typical of the neutral vowel. The svarabhakti vowel’s duration is rather shorter than the nuclear vowels. Conclusion: The results of this study shows that the tap is a very complex sound, with different manifestations, although, in general, the manifestation as tap is the most usual one. Furthermore, is as eminent short sound, and, somehow, affected by the adjacent context. The svarabhakti vowel approaches the nuclear vowels characteristics, in complex onset and coda. |
