Abstract: The present study is focused on the analysis of earthen architecture heritage built until the first half of the 20th century. Special emphasis is devoted to the study of the timber roof structures of adobe buildings. The main purpose of this study is to discuss the interaction between the roof timber structures and the adobe masonry load bearing walls. This analysis involves the understanding of the typical characteristics of the adobe constructions’ roof structures, as well as their common defects due to decay or incorrect interventions.
