produção é feita a partir do fabrico subtrativo (FS), no entanto,
ET auxéticas(ET 3D re-entrant e ET 2D re-entrant), caracterizadas
Footwear plays a key role in the daily routine of both high-level athletes and common citizens, during physical exercise or while standing for long periods of time. Therefore, the development of shoe soles, mainly sport shoes, with the energy absorption (AE) required while doing a certain activity, can contribute not only to greater comfort, but also to decrease the risk of joint injuries. The main component of the sole responsible for contributing to good AE is the midsole. Normally, its production is made using subtractive manufacturing (FS), however, in recent years, there has been an increase in the use of the various technologies offered by additive manufacturing (FA). The application of FA to the production of midsoles is a growing area, where there is still the opportunity to improve, innovate and optimize. Thus, to accomplish the objective of this dissertation, a midsole for a sport shoe with an internal lattice structure (ET) will be developed by FA. This will allow to achieve a good level of comfort associated with an efficient AE of impact when considering relevant aspects, such as the pressure distribution on the user's foot. The development of this dissertation began with the acquisition of the shape of the sole of a conventional sport shoe, using laser scanning and structured light technologies. Therefore, it was possible to collect the necessary information to generate the digital model of the compact midsole. This model allowed the production of the midsole with the internal ET. Thus, in this dissertation, two auxetic lattice structures (3D re-entrant ET and 2D re-entrant ET), characterized by showing a superior AE compared to non-auxetic ET, were studied, considering the AE of impact. After various numerical analysis, it was concluded that, taking into account the maximum pressures observed while running, the 2D re-entrant ET revealed better performance compared to the 3D re-entrant ET. Therefore, the 2D re-entrant ET was the selected ET for this case study. In this way, after splitting the sole of the foot into six regions, the thickness of the ET selected along the midsole was tested and the appropriate thickness was established according to the maximum pressure applied in each region, in order to have a midsole with similar cushioning throughout the regions, during the different running phases. After modelling the midsole in its entirety with the internal ET, a portion of the midsole was printed, using the Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) process and using TPU 95A (material with good properties of flexibility, resistance and elasticity) as the chosen material, where it was concluded that it is possible to obtain a midsole with good reliability in terms of manufacturing the small details of the ET and with a good AE of impact.5. |
