| pt |
dc.description.abstract | The main objective of this thesis is to study the behavior of a composite with microencapsulated paraffin PCM in a matrix composed of LECA®XS and cement, in order to reduce energy costs in air conditioning and improve thermal comfort. In order to reach this goal, slabs were produced and placed on the floor of a test cell, following the best practices of direct gain passive solar building design. Experimental tests in a two compartment test cell enabled the evaluation of the thermal performance of the slabs with PCM through a monitoring system installed for this purpose. Subsequently, a comparison between experimental data and numerical results was performed using of a parameterized model, according to the input data provided by the simulation program EnergyPlus. Good agreement was found between the data obtained from the weather station data, measured at the University of Aveiro, the experimental values measured in the test cell and the numerical results. The existence of a large solar area in the test cell without the existence ratio storage capacity has led to a PCM overheating in the slabs. The temperature range decreases and there is a decrease between the experimental temperature and the reference temperature. There are small differences between the data obtained by simulation and obtained experimentally but they are synchronized in fase. | pt |
