Consumos de água em edifícios universitários: caso do DECivil da UA

Abstract

Segundo o Plano Nacional para o Uso Eficiente da Água em Portugal (PNUEA, 2012), existe a possibilidade de ocorrerem situações de stress hídrico se não se melhorar o uso da água no sentido de uma conservação dos recursos hídricos. Assim, é necessário estudar os usos de água para se saber onde intervir por forma a preservar os recursos hídricos. Parte da água é consumida em meio urbano pelo que, para aumentar a eficiência hídrica das cidades, é necessário conhecer primeiro as características de consumo nos edifícios. Como os consumos em edifícios são muito diferentes consoante o seu uso, estudos deste tipo devem ser realizados por tipo de edifício. Embora haja já alguns estudos centrados na caracterização do consumo de água de determinado tipo de edifícios, o número de estudos centrados em edifícios universitários é ainda muito reduzido e os seus resultados insipientes. Neste sentido, a presente dissertação pretende contribuir para uma melhor caracterização dos consumos de água em edifícios universitários. Para tal, foi utilizado como caso de estudo o edifício do Departamento de Engenharia Civil da Universidade de Aveiro (DECivil). A partir dos registos de consumos de água no edifício obtidos por telecontagem no ano de 2013, fez-se um estudo das características desses consumos por época de exames, de aulas, de férias e interrupções letivas. Paralelamente fez-se monitorização dos consumos de água no edifício por questionários diretos aos utilizadores, permitindo caracterizar os consumos, por dispositivo sanitário. Por fim, fez-se uma proposta de melhoria da eficiência hídrica do edifício que correspondia a substituir-se os dispositivos sanitários existentes por outros mais eficientes, contribuindo para a redução dos consumos de água nas instalações monitorizadas em cerca de 50%.

According to the National Plan for the Efficient Use of Water in Portugal (PNUEA, 2012), there is the possibility of water shortages if the use of water is not improve in the direction of the conservation of water resources. Consequently, it is necessary to study the uses of water to know where to act in order to protect the water resources. Some of the water is consumed in urban environment and thus, to increase water efficiency in cities, it is necessary to firstly know the characteristics of consumption in buildings. As the consumption in buildings is very different depending on its use, studies of this kind should be carried out by building type. Although exist some studies focused on the characterization of the water consumption by type of building, the number of studies focused on university buildings is still very low and the results are still incipient. In this sense, this thesis aims to contribute to a better characterization of water consumption in university buildings. To that end, the building of the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of Aveiro (DECivil) was considered as case study. From the water consumption data obtained by telemetry in the year 2013, was made a study of the characteristics of these consumptions per period of exams, classes, holidays and classes interruptions. In addition, was performed monitoring of water consumption in the building by direct questionnaires to the users, allowing to characterize water consumption by water device. Finally, it was made a proposal to improve the building water efficiency, which corresponded to replace the existing water devices by other more efficient. This measure would contribute to a reduction of approximately 50% of the consumption of water in the monitored sanitary facilities of the building.
