A escola e a rede social: articulação para a inclusão escolar

Abstract

O tema desta tese de investigação centra-se no estudo de uma escola do concelho de Aveiro. Pretendeu-se conhecer a sua organização, no que concerne à articulação com algumas instituições de cariz social, no âmbito da inclusão escolar de alunos em absentismo/abandono escolares. Pretendeu-se saber como é que uma escola articula com a rede social, como se organiza nessa articulação, quais as entidades contactadas na rede social para resolver problemas relacionados com o absentismo e abandono escolares e quais são as perspetivas que os diretores de turma, as coordenadoras do pré-escolar e do 1ºciclo, o professor interlocutor para o abandono escolar, a direção da escola e a Comissão de Proteção de Crianças e Jovens de Aveiro têm desse processo. A metodologia utilizada foi o estudo de caso. Neste âmbito, aplicámos um inquérito por questionário a 24 docentes ocupando, estes, funções de diretores de turma e coordenadores do ensino pré-escolar e do 1ºciclo. Realizámos, também, 6 entrevistas semiestruturadas. Estas foram realizadas à subdiretora do agrupamento de escolas, à professora interlocutora para o abandono escolar e a quatro técnicos da Comissão de Proteção de Crianças e Jovens de Aveiro. A inclusão destes últimos no leque dos entrevistados deve-se à estreita ligação existente entre a escola e a Comissão de Proteção de Crianças e Jovens de Aveiro no combate ao absentismo e abandono escolares. A análise e tratamento de dados permitiram identificar as principais causas do abandono e absentismo escolares, conhecer os procedimentos adotados pela escola em estudo na articulação com a rede social, em situações de abandono e absentismo escolares, identificar as entidades mais contactadas pela escola para a resolução deste problema e conhecer as perspetivas dos docentes sobre a eficácia do trabalho em rede social no combate ao mesmo. Permitiu, também, verificar que a articulação da escola com a rede social, apesar de fazer regressar os alunos à escola e, portanto, diminuir o absentismo e abandono escolares, não consegue, por si só, resolver as principais causas do abandono escolar, ou seja, problemas relacionados com a motivação dos alunos para as tarefas e desempenho escolares.

The theme of this research is centred on the study of a school in the municipality of Aveiro. The aim was to get to know its organization in what concerns the coordination established with some institutions of a social nature in the realm of school inclusion of students in school absenteeism/abandonment. It is intended to know how a school coordinates with the social network, how this coordination is organized, which entities are contacted in the social network to solve problems related with school absenteeism and abandonment, and which are the perspectives on that process presented by form tutors, pre-school and 1st cycle coordinators, the teacher representing the Comittee for the Protection of Children and Young people of Aveiro in the school, the school board and the Comittee for the Protection of Children and Young people of Aveiro itself. The methodology used was the case study. In this case, we applied an inquiry by questionnaire to 24 teachers which held positions as form teachers and pre-school and 1st cycle school coordinators. We also made 6 semi-structured interviews. These were applied to the sub-director of the school cluster, the teacher representing the Comittee for the Protection of Children and Young people of Aveiro in the school, and four technicians of the Comittee for the Protection of Children and Young people of Aveiro. The inclusion of the latter in the list of interviewees is due to the strong link between the school and the Comittee for the Protection of Children and Young people of Aveiro in the fight against school absenteeism and abandoment. The analysis and treatment of data have allowed us to identify the main causes of school absenteeism and abandonment, know the procedures adopted by the school under study in the coordination with the social network in situations of school absenteeism and abandonment, identify the entities which are most contacted by the school for the resolution of this problem and to know the teacher's perspectives on the effectiveness of the work done in the social network regarding this fight. It has also allowed us to verify that the coordination of the school with the social network, in spite of making students return to school and therefore, reducing the school absenteeism and abandonment, is not capable, by itself, of solving the problems related to students' motivation in what concerns school tasks and performance.
