Third Sector organizations constitute a major part of the social economy. These organizations face different crises and have a different management model. Based on this issue, the aim of this study was to give greater visibility to leadership during times of crisis and to employees' perceptions of the crises they face, to use these findings to propose a set of strategies that mitigate the effect of crises and do not threaten leadership in third sector organizations. To this end, a qualitative and quantitative exploratory study was carried out, with data collected through interviews with the organizations' leaders and employee surveys. The results revealed that no organization was prepared to react in times of crisis and that the transformational leadership style is the style most adopted by leaders, with positive effects on the relationship with employees. The results also showed that there is very little knowledge and very ineffective legislation on the third sector, increasing its dependence on the state. As a result, it was possible to propose a management model for the Third Sector, to fill the gaps in the Portuguese state of the art and to suggest future work and applications. |
