inovação; assumir de riscos; proatividade; agressividade competitiva;
Relativamente à metodologia utilizada, a mesma consiste no método
Entrepreneurial Orientation is a concept that has been at the forefront of academic discourse for the last three decades, so it is a subject that has been the subject of different interpretations over time. Therefore, the main objectives of this dissertation are to adapt the concept of entrepreneurial orientation to the academic world and to study the supervisor-student partnership relationship from the supervisor point of view. As far as the constructs associated with entrepreneurial orientation are concerned, they consist of innovation; risk- -taking; proactivity; competitive aggressiveness; autonomy; passion and perseverance, and it was clear from the research carried out that these can be transferred to the context of publication orientation. In other words, like entrepreneurs, researchers also want to be successful in their field of activity, so they are innovative in that they add value to science and society; they take the risk of publishing without knowing the return it could give them, as well as being proactive, autonomous and persevering both in the search for new opportunities and in the fact that they do not give up at the first adversity. In spite of this, passion is the main element for the orientation towards publication to emerge and be transmitted to others, since this is the dimension that drives the others. With regard to the methodology used, it consists of a qualitative method, more precisely nine interviews which led to the conclusion that publication orientation is a construct made up of seven dimensions which must be present in individuals simultaneously and in different "quantities" depending on various factors. Allied to this, it was also concluded that there are various reasons that encourage lecturers to publish, such as the fact that it is a way of adding value to science and society; that supervisors try to transmit the "bug" of publication to the student in different ways and that the supervisor-student partnership relationship is mostly beneficial to the student. Thus, this dissertation makes a valuable contribution to the academic world by studying a subject that has not yet been developed, while at the same time presenting itself as an important study in which lecturers wishing to enter this field of activity can learn about some of the difficulties and strategies associated with this process. |
