Documentário "Mulheres em Portugal" (2021): a tradução da variação de registos linguísticos em depoimentos e entrevistas

Abstract

O presente trabalho tem como objetivo a resolução de problemas de tradução para legendagem decorrentes da variação de registos linguísticos, presentes em três depoimentos escolhidos de um documentário em português, e a tradução para legendagem em inglês. O projeto insere-se na área da Tradução Audiovisual, e mais especificamente na área de legendagem para tradução. A metodologia apoia-se em reflexão teórica no campo de Tradução Audiovisual, para fundamentar a tradução das entrevistas e depoimentos, bem como em definições do conceito de registo linguístico. Procede-se também a uma caracterização do género documentário. Expõem-se as razões para a escolha do documentário utilizado como base do projeto, e para a seleção de depoimentos. Por fim, são analisados os problemas de tradução identificados nos depoimentos e as estratégias para a resolução.

The aim of this paper is to solve subtitling translation problems arising from the variation in linguistic registers present in three testimonies chosen from a documentary in Portuguese, and to translate them into English subtitles. The project is part of the Audiovisual Translation area, and more specifically of the field of subtitling for translation. The methodology is based on theoretical reflection in the field of Audiovisual Translation, to support the translation of the interviews and testimonies, as well as definitions of the concept of linguistic register. The documentary genre is also characterized. The reasons for choosing the documentary used as the basis for the project and for selecting the testimonies are explained. Finally, the translation problems identified in the testimonies and the strategies for solving them are analyzed.
