O Ocidente e Portugal nos manuais escolares da China, 1970-2020

Abstract

O que aprendemos sobre a história, o que pensamos ser correcto desde a infância, aprendemos com os manuais escolares e estamos convencidos do que eles dizem dentro das nossas próprias percepções, mas o mundo é multidimensional e dialéctico, é o que aprendemos nos manuais escolares o que é verdade? O mundo que eu pensava conhecer antes de vir para Portugal era diferente do mundo que conhecia depois de vir para Portugal, tal como fui para outros países também, e talvez conhecesse o mundo de forma mais diferente. Aceitar as diferenças, compreendê-las, utilizá-las para compreender mais profundamente a cultura e história de um país, é este o objectivo da minha investigação. Actualmente Portugal e a China estão cada vez mais próximos, e no futuro acredito que haverá mais cooperação e ajuda entre os dois países. Precisamos de nos compreender mais profundamente, não só através da actual situação económica e cultural, mas também através da história passada, e como esta imagem de Portugal na China tem evoluído ao longo da história. As fontes mais subjectivas e ao mesmo tempo objectivas são os manuais de história chinesa, que, através do retrato de Portugal e do Ocidente em manuais de diferentes épocas, nos permitem explorar a transformação da imagem de Portugal e do Ocidente na China ao longo dos últimos cinquenta anos.

With regard to history, what we learn as children that we think is correct is learned from textbooks and within our own perceptions, we are convinced of what they say, but the world is multidimensional and dialectical, and is what we learn in textbooks true? The world as I thought it was before I came to Portugal is different from the world I have come to know since I arrived, just as I have gone to other countries and perhaps come to know the world more differently. To accept the differences, to understand them and to use them to gain a deeper understanding of a country's culture and history is the aim of my research. Now that Portugal and China are growing closer, and I believe that there will be more cooperation and help between the two countries in the future, we need to understand each other more deeply, not just through the current economic and cultural situation, but also through the past, and how this image of Portugal in China has evolved over the course of history. The most subjective and objective sources are the Chinese history textbooks, which, through their portrayal of Portugal and the West in different eras, allow us to explore the transformation of the image of Portugal and the West in China over the last fifty years.
