Cadernos do nefando: a experiência homoerótica na literatura da guerra colonial

Abstract

Propõe‑se uma sondagem de alguma produção ficcional sobre a guerra colonial, nela investigando a incidência de cenários afectivos homoeróticos e tentando aduzir razões explicativas da presença insistente desta (improvável) linha de sentido. Embora a forma e substância dos episódios de cunho homoerótico recenseados apresentem uma inegável diversidade, alguns motivos são objecto de convocação reiterada: a inscrição do encontro sexual numa atmosfera de cumplicidade homossocial, o erotismo como expediente catártico e alternativa de redenção, a ambiguidade transgressiva do gender‑bending e do drag, a conjunção de autodescoberta homoerótica e aprendizagem psicoafectiva.

We provide a critical overview of some fictional works dealing with the Portuguese colonial wars, specifi-cally seeking to investigate the recurrence of homoerotic bonds and suggesting some reasons that might account for such prevalence. Even though both the form and substance of these homoerotic episodes reveal outstanding diversity, some motifs surface repeatedly in these texts: the framing of the sexual encounter within a setting of homossocial partnership, same -sex relationships as cathartic and redeeming resources, the transgressive ambiguity of gender‑bending and drag, the juxtaposition of homoerotic self -discovery and psycho -affective maturation.
