A segunda geração de chineses em Portugal: identidade e integração no país e na comunidade chinesa

Abstract

Portugal tornou-se, ao longo das últimas décadas, em país de destino de muitos migrantes chineses, mais recentemente também através do Programa Vistos Gold (Autorização de Residência para Atividade de Investimento), mecanismo implementado em 2012 com o objetivo de atrair investimento estrangeiro. É objetivo geral desta dissertação o estudo do processo de integração e construção identitária da segunda geração de chineses que nasceu ou cresceu em Portugal, procurando-se identificar quais os costumes e hábitos adotados e quais as dificuldades que encontram na vida escolar e no quotidiano. Através da aplicação de um inquérito a este grupo de indivíduos, procurou-se, assim, compreender quais os elementos que constituem a sua identidade e como se caracteriza a sua integração quer na sociedade portuguesa, quer na comunidade chinesa.

Over the past decades, Portugal has become a destination country for many Chinese migrants, more recently also through the Gold Visa Programme (Residence Permit for Investment Activities), a mechanism implemented in 2012 with the aim of attracting foreign investment. The general objective of this dissertation is to study the process of integration and identity construction of the second generation of Chinese who were born or grew up in Portugal, seeking to identify which customs and habits have been adopted and what difficulties they encounter in school and their daily lives. Through the application of a questionnaire to this group of individuals, we sought to understand which elements are part of the identity of second-generation of Chinese migrants and how their integration into both the Portuguese society and the Chinese community is characterised.
