Jovens deputados ao parlamento português: padrões de carreira

Abstract

O presente trabalho apresenta uma análise dos perfis e das trajetórias políticas de um grupo particular da elite legislativa portuguesa: os deputados que se elegeram à Assembleia da República ainda na juventude. A partir de uma abordagem prosopográfica, foram recolhidos dados biográficos de 188 indivíduos com essa característica. Os resultados apontam para uma semelhança dos perfis desse grupo com a generalidade dos deputados no contexto português e revelam, ainda, a importância das organizações de juventude dos partidos políticos enquanto canais de recrutamento político e no estabelecimento de carreiras políticas.

This work presents an analysis of the profiles and political trajectories of a particular group within the legislative Portuguese elite: the Deputies who were elected for the Republic Assembly while still in their youth. Through a prosopographic approach, the biographical data were collected from 188 individuals presenting the aforementioned characteristic. The results show profile similarities of this group in comparison to the generality of the Deputies in the Portuguese context. In addition, they reveal the importance of the political parties’ youth organizations as channels of political recruitment and the establishment of political careers.
