Envelhecimento e deficiência: uma revisão integrativa da literatura

Abstract

É importante compreender o fenómeno do envelhecimento e deficiência numa perspetiva integradora. Esta dissertação teve como objetivos principais Investigar a literatura conjunta acerca do envelhecimento e deficiência; e Compreender a evolução da literatura sobre envelhecimento e deficiência desde 2000 a 2020. A metodologia utilizada foi uma revisão integrativa sobre o envelhecimento e deficiência, com pesquisa na literatura científica nas bases de dados Scopus, Web of Science e Science Direct, utilizando as palavras-chave que incluíram os termos “Aging”, “Disability” e “Social Policies”. Seguindo todas as etapas da Revisão Integrativa da Literatura, foram selecionados e analisados 30 artigos. Os resultados demonstram que a quantidade de publicações sobre a necessidade de interligação entre os dois assuntos tem sido um grande foco das pesquisas, principalmente nos Estados Unidos. As políticas de deficiência também se revelam uma constante no que diz respeito a assuntos sobre pobreza, inclusão, exclusão, isolamento e participação social. Como conclusão percebe-se que o assunto não se finda aqui. É fulcral que as preocupações levantadas ganhem cada vez mais espaço no campo das ações. O estudo realizado corrobora os estudos anteriores que afirmam a importância e necessidade de interligação entre estas duas temáticas. Assim, por se considerar uma área recente, serão necessários outros estudos, quantitativos, qualitativos com metodologias diferenciadas no sentido de entender em maior escala o que envolve estas duas temáticas.

It is important to understand the phenomenon of aging and disability from an integrative perspective. This dissertation had as main objectives to investigate the joint literature about aging and disability; and Understanding the evolution of the literature on aging and disability from 2000 to 2020. The methodology used was an integrative review on aging and disability, with a search in the scientific literature in the Scopus, Web of Science e Science Direct using the keywords that included the terms “Aging”, “Disability” e “Social Policies”. Following all the steps of the Integrative Review, 30 articles were selected and analyzed. The results demonstrate that the amount of publications on the need for interconnection between the two subjects has been a major focus of research, especially in the United States. Disability policies are also constant with regard to issues of poverty, inclusion, exclusion, isolation and social participation. As a conclusion, it is clear that the matter does not end here. It is crucial that the concerns raised gain more and more space in the field of actions. The study carried out corroborates previous studies that affirm the importance and need for interconnection between these two themes. Thus, as it is considered a recent area, further quantitative and qualitative studies with different methodologies are needed in order to understand on a larger scale what involves these two themes.
