Opinião materna sobre a importância da participação do pai no sucesso do aleitamento materno

Abstract

O presente relatório apresenta o resultado das atividades efetuadas no Estágio de Natureza Profissional realizado na Unidade de Saúde Familiar Águeda+Saúde, entre outubro e março de 2021. Tem como objetivos refletir criticamente sobre as aprendizagens resultantes da prática e o desenvolvimento de competências especializadas em Enfermagem de Saúde Familiar e apresentar o estudo de investigação desenvolvido no referido Estágio, intitulado: “Opinião materna sobre a importância da participação do pai no sucesso do Aleitamento Materno”. O aleitamento materno (AM) é recomendado pela OMS e a UNICEF devido aos seus reconhecidos benefícios para o bebé, mãe, família e sociedade. A participação ativa do pai contribui para o sucesso do Aleitamento Materno, mantendo-se por mais tempo. A competência parental do AM quando partilhada pelo casal permite uma transição para a parentalidade mais saudável, pelo que o enfermeiro de família deve valorizar a envolvência do pai nesta tarefa. Este estudo teve como objetivos conhecer essa opinião materna e analisá-la segundo as variáveis sociodemográficas e as relacionadas com a vigilância da gravidez, participação do pai e experiência prévia em AM. Optou-se pelo método de investigação quantitativa, com um estudo observacional, descritivo e correlacional, com uma amostra acidental, constituída por 107 mães de recém-nascidos entre os 4 e os 12 meses, obtida entre janeiro e março de 2021. O tratamento dos dados, obtidos por questionário e cumprindo os princípios éticos, foi realizado com o programa Statistical Package for the Social Sciences. A opinião materna sobre a importância da participação do pai no AM avaliada com a “Escala da Importância da Participação do Pai na Amamentação”, apresenta respostas na sua maioria importantes a extremamente importantes, com uma média de Fac de 81,4% na dimensão física, 96,1% na dimensão afetiva e 99% na dimensão doméstica. Os resultados da análise inferencial revelam diferenças estatisticamente significativas nas médias das opiniões maternas sobre a importância da participação do pai no AM segundo a escolaridade, na dimensão doméstica (p=0,018); segundo a classe social nas dimensões afetiva (p=0,037), doméstica (p=0,002) e global (p=0,007); segundo a condição de emprego do pai, na dimensão física (p=0,035) e global (p=0,009); segundo a frequência do pai às consultas pré-natais, na dimensão afetiva (p=0,003) e segundo a frequência de um curso de preparação para a parentalidade por ambos, na dimensão física (p=0,004), afetiva (p=0,002) e global (p=0,001). Os resultados obtidos revelam um elevado grau de importância atribuído pelas mães à participação do pai no sucesso do AM e que a sua opinião é diferente e mais favorável mediante a sua escolaridade, classe social, condição de emprego do pai do bebé e a participação deste nas consultas de vigilância pré-natal e curso de preparação para a parentalidade. Estes resultados mostram ao enfermeiro de famílias a importância de encontrar estratégias para o incentivo da participação do pai no AM nas várias dimensões, tendo em consideração o seu contexto.

This report presents the results of the activities that took place as part of the Professional Internship carried out at the USF Águeda+Saúde, between October and March 2021. Its objectives are to reflect critically on the learnings resulting from the practice and the development of specialized skills in Family Health Nursing, and to present the research study developed at the referred Internship, entitled: “Maternal opinion on the importance of the father's participation in the success of breastfeeding”. Breastfeeding (BF) is recommended by the World Health Organization and UNICEF because of its recognized benefits for the baby, mother, family and society. The active participation of the father contributes to the success and prolongation of BF. The parental competence of BF, when shared by the couple, allows for a transition to a healthier parenthood; as such the family nurse must value the father's involvement in this task. This study aimed to determine this maternal opinion and analyze it according to sociodemographic variables and those related to pregnancy follow-up appointments, father's participation and previous experience in BF. We opted for the quantitative investigation method, with an observational, descriptive and correlational study, with an accidental sample, consisting of 107 mothers of newborns aged between 4 and 12 months, obtained between January and March 2021. Data analysis, obtained through a questionnaire and complying with ethical principles, was carried out using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences program. The maternal opinion on the importance of the father's participation in the BF assessed with the “Scale of Importance of Father's Participation in Breastfeeding”, showed that the majority of answers ranged from important to extremely important, with an average of Fac of 81.4% in the physical dimension, 96.1% in the affective dimension and 99% in the domestic dimension. The results of the inferential analysis revealed statistically significant differences in the means of maternal opinions about the importance of father's participation in BF according to schooling, in the domestic dimension (p=0.018); according to social class in the affective (p=0.037), domestic (p=0.002) and global (p=0.007) dimensions; according to the father’s employment status, in the physical (p=0.035) and global (p=0.009) dimensions; according to the frequency of the father participation in prenatal consultations, in the affective dimension (p=0.003), and according to the frequency of a parenting preparation course by both, in the physical (p=0.004), affective (p=0.002) and global (p=0.001) dimensions. The results from this study reveal a high degree of importance attributed by mothers to the father's participation in BF for its success and that their opinion is different and more favorable depending on their education, social class, employment status of the baby's father and his participation in the prenatal consultations and parenting preparation course. These results show the family nurse the importance of finding strategies that encourage the father's participation in the BF in the various dimensions, considering their context.
