Perceções dos impactes e atitudes dos residentes face a eventos culturais: o caso de Guimarães

Abstract

Os eventos culturais evoluíram ao longo dos últimos anos e tornaram-se um elemento chave no turismo e na estratégia de desenvolvimento e competitividade dos destinos. No entanto, apesar de haver já alguma pesquisa sobre a perceção que os residentes têm dos impactes dos eventos, são ainda escassos os estudos que analisam a influência de diversos fatores na perceção dos impactes e nas atitudes que os residentes possuem relativamente aos eventos. Além disso, não existem estudos que analisam a influência de um conjunto diverso de fatores neste âmbito nem que examinam o impacte de fatores como a solidariedade emocional. Consequentemente, na presente dissertação, pretendem analisar-se as perceções dos residentes do concelho de Guimarães relativamente a impactes de vários eventos culturais que ocorrem nesta cidade - Festas Nicolinas, Festas Gualterianas e Feira Afonsina -, bem como as suas atitudes face a estes eventos. Pretende-se, ainda, compreender quais os fatores que influenciam essas perceções e atitudes. Para concretizar estes objetivos, realizou-se uma extensa revisão da literatura, com base no conceito de eventos e eventos culturais, nas perceções dos impactes e nas atitudes por parte dos residentes em relação aos eventos, e nos fatores que influenciam essas perceções e atitudes. A partir dessa revisão da literatura, desenvolveu-se um modelo conceptual, com o intuito de avaliar os fatores que influenciam as perceções e as atitudes dos residentes do concelho de Guimarães em relação às Festas Nicolinas, às Festas Gualterianas e à Feira Afonsina. Para testar o modelo de investigação proposto, foram administrados 458 questionários aos residentes do concelho de Guimarães e foram feitas análises multivariadas – concretamente análises de componentes principais e regressões. Os resultados desta investigação permitiram perceber quais as perceções e atitudes dos residentes de Guimarães face aos impactes dos eventos, bem como quais os fatores que influenciam as suas perceções e as suas atitudes.

Cultural events have evolved over the past few years and have become a key element in tourism and in the destinations' development and competitiveness strategy. However, although there is already some research on the perception of residents of the impacts of events, studies that analyse the influence of various factors on the perception of impacts and the attitudes that residents have towards events are still scarce. In addition, there are no studies that analyse the influence of a diverse set of factors in this area or that examine the impact of factors such as emotional solidarity. Consequently, in this dissertation, the main goals are, to analyse the perceptions of residents of the municipality of Guimarães regarding the impacts of various cultural events in the city of Guimarães - Festas Nicolinas, Festas Gualterianas and Feira Afonsina -, as well as their attitudes towards these events. It is also intended to understand what factors influence these perceptions and attitudes. For this, an extensive literature review was carried out, based on the concept of cultural events and events, perceptions of impacts and attitudes of local residents towards the events, and the factors that influence these perceptions and attitudes. From this literature review, a conceptual model was developed, with the aim of evaluating the factors that influence the perceptions and attitudes of the residents of the municipality of Guimarães in relation to the Festas Nicolinas, Festas Gualterianas and Feira Afonsina. To test the proposed research model, 458 questionnaires were administered to residents of the municipality of Guimarães and multivariate analyses were carried out - specifically principal components analyses and regressions. The results of this investigation allowed us to understand the perceptions and attitudes of Guimarães residents regarding the impacts of the events, as well as the factors that influence their perceptions and attitudes.
