Abstract: | As metodologias laboratoriais apresentam um papel relevante no auxílio do
infeciosas. No presente trabalho são descritas metodologias laboratoriais
realizadas durante o decorrer do estágio efetuado no Laboratório José Manuel
A análise englobou
As idades
com mais casos COVID-19 verificaram-se ser entre os 31-60 anos. Dos
indivíduos em estudo com COVID-19, 64,62% são do sexo feminino e 35,38%
do sexo masculino. Na avaliação da sintomatologia dos casos COVID-19
positivos, 21,54% tiveram febre, 33,85% tosse seca, 10,77% dificuldade em
respirar, 13,85% perda de olfato/paladar e 12,31% dores musculares. As
Laboratory methodologies play an important role in helping the clinical diagnosis of microbial infections, since they make it possible to identify the etiological agent of the infection, guide the therapy to be chosen and are still an important tool in monitoring and preventing infectious pathologies. This work describes laboratory methodologies carried out during the course of the internship at the José Manuel Chau S.A. Laboratory, which allow aiding the clinical diagnosis of microbial infections. Due to the existing pandemic triggered by the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), the laboratories of the Beatriz Godinho Saúde S.A. Group started to carry out tests for its detection, which enabled me to perform an analysis aimed at assessing the extent to which the data in the literature on the most frequent symptoms and comorbidities associated with Coronavirus Disease-2019 (COVID-19), the ages and sex most susceptible to SARS-CoV-2 are verified. The data to be analysed were collected at the José Manuel Chau S.A. Laboratory from 17 March to 24 June 2020. The analysis included 1222 individuals who performed the tests for the detection of SARS-CoV-2 in the indicated laboratory. Of the 1222 under study, 93.54% were negative for COVID-19, 5.32% positive and 1.15% inconclusive. The ages with more positive COVID-19 cases were found to be between 31-60 years. Of the individuals studied with COVID-19, 64.62% were female and 35.38% were male. In the evaluation of symptomatology of positive COVID-19 cases, 21.54% had fever, 33.85% had a dry cough, 10.77% had difficulty in breathing, 13.85% had loss of olfaction/taste and 12.31% had muscle pain. The comorbidities most reported for positive cases were diabetes with 4.62% and heart disease with 6.15%. These results are in line with those described in the literature. From the statistical comparison between the negative and positive tests, only the variables "Test result" and "Been in contact with confirmed cases" were correlated, with the value of 0.102 by the Cramér’s V Test. |
