Relatório de estágio na empresa Multilingual Europe: uma reflexão sobre o trabalho do tradutor

Abstract

Este relatório teve como objetivo analisar o trabalho do tradutor num todo. Começando por falar nas bases da tradução, seguido das diferenças entre a tradução geral e a tradução especializada. Estas serviram de introdução para a pesquisa sobre o conceito de trabalho, o trabalho do tradutor e o que ele faz, assim como o seu contexto. Além disso, foram abordadas as diferenças entre o tradutor freelancer e o tradutor in-house. Estes foram os alicerces para começar a analisar e comparar a teoria e a prática do trabalho do tradutor, aquando do estágio na empresa Multilingual Europe, onde para além de se ter feito um inquérito aos tradutores da empresa, num âmbito mais individual do seu trabalho, também se põe em análise o diário de estágio feito ao longo do mesmo.

The aim of this report is to analyse the work of the translator as a whole. Starting with the base of what is translation, going to the differences between general translation and specialised translation. These served their purpose as an introduction for the research of the concept of work, the work of a translator and what they do, as well as their context. Furthermore, the differences between a freelancer translator and an in-house translator, as well as Toury’s translation norms. These were the foundation to start analysing and comparing theory and practice of the work of the translator, at the time of the internship at the translation company Multilingual Europe, where besides making a survey to the translators of the company, in a more individual scope of their work, it is also considered the personal internship journal of the internship.
