As perceções e atitudes dos residentes face aos eventos de recriação histórica: o caso da “Viagem Medieval em Terra de Santa Maria”

Abstract

O principal objetivo desta investigação é analisar as perceções dos impactos e as atitudes dos residentes face ao evento de recriação histórica “Viagem Medieval em Terra de Santa Maria”. Para alcançar este objetivo procedeu-se a uma extensa revisão da literatura centrada no conceito de evento, nas perceções dos residentes dos impactos dos eventos, atitudes dos residentes face aos eventos e fatores que poderão influenciar as perceções e as atitudes dos residentes. Com base nesta revisão, foi possível desenvolver um modelo de investigação e hipóteses correspondentes, cujo intuito é estudar os fatores que influenciam as perceções e atitudes dos residentes do concelho de Santa Maria da Feira face ao evento de recreação histórica - Viagem Medieval. Para isso, recolheram-se 396 questionários de residentes de todas as freguesias do concelho. A administração do questionário decorreu nos meses de julho e agosto de 2020. Neste instrumento de recolha de dados estavam questões relacionadas com a participação dos residentes no evento, perceções dos residentes acerca dos impactos do evento, ligação com o evento, ligação com o destino, interação com os visitantes e características sociodemográficas. O teste do modelo de investigação desenvolvido foi realizado recorrendo a estatísticas univariadas e multivariadas (Análises de Componentes Principais e Análises de Regressão Linear Múltipla). Os resultados obtidos nesta investigação permitiram concluir que os residentes de Santa Maria da Feira possuem uma ligação razoável com o destino e com o evento, mas uma fraca interação com os visitantes que participam neste evento. Ainda, de forma geral, consideram a Viagem Medieval como sendo benéfica individualmente e para a comunidade e por isso demonstram atitudes positivas e de apoio perante a organização do evento. Os resultados permitiram também concluir que os fatores que influenciam as perceções dos residentes são a ligação com o destino, o tempo de residência no concelho, a ligação com o evento, a interação com os visitantes, as habilitações literárias, o género e a idade. Já os fatores que influenciam as atitudes, são a ligação com o destino, a ligação com o evento, a interação com os visitantes e a perceção dos custos sociais e culturais, da educação ambiental e dos benefícios económicos. Este estudo contribui para o entendimento dos gestores do evento e destino acerca das perceções dos residentes face ao evento e os fatores que influenciam essas perceções e atitudes, para que, com isto, seja possível traçar estratégias e medidas capazes de tornar a comunidade mais satisfeita e o evento mais bemsucedido.

The main objective of this research is to analyze the perceptions of the impacts and the attitudes of residents towards the reenactment event "Medieval Journey in The Land of Santa Mary". To achieve this goal, it was made an extensive literature review focused on the concept of event, the perceptions of residents about the impacts of events, attitudes of residents towards events and the factors that influence the perceptions and attitudes of residents. Based on this review, it was possible to develop a model of research and corresponding hypotheses, whose purpose is to study the factors that influence the perceptions and attitudes of residents of the municipality of Santa Maria da Feira towards the reenactment event - Medieval Journey. For this, 396 questionnaires were collected among residents from all the parishes of the municipality. The questionnaire was administered in July and August 2020. In this data collection instrument, there were questions related to the participation of residents in the event, perceptions of residents about the impacts of the event, attachment with the event, attachment with the destination, interaction with visitors and sociodemographic characteristics. The test of the research model developed was performed using univariate and multivariate statistics (Principal Component Analyses and Multiple Linear Regression Analyses). The results obtained from this investigation allowed to conclude that the residents of Santa Maria da Feira have a reasonable attachment with the destination and the event, but a weak interaction with the visitors that attend the event. Also, in general, they consider the Medieval Journey as being beneficial individually and for the community and therefore demonstrate positive attitudes and support towards the organization of the event. The results also allowed to conclude that the factors that influence the perceptions of residents are the place attachment, the time of residence in the municipality, the event attachment, the host-resident interaction, education, gender and age. The factors that influence attitudes are the place attachment, the event attachment and the host-resident interaction. This study contributes to the understanding of event and destination managers about the perceptions of residents regarding the event and the factors that influence these perceptions and attitudes, so that it is possible to outline strategies and measures capable of making the community more satisfied and the event more successful.
