Viagens das palavras durante a expansão marítima: ensinar história e geografia de Portugal com palavras

Abstract

O presente Relatório Final de Estágio tem como objetivo apresentar o trabalho desenvolvido no âmbito das Unidades Curriculares de Prática Pedagógica Supervisionada e de Seminário de Orientação Educacional do Mestrado em Ensino do 1.º ciclo do Ensino Básico e de Português e História e Geografia de Portugal no 2.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico. Durante a Prática Pedagógica, planificámos e implementámos duas atividades, em particular sobre os primeiros contactos que os Portugueses tiveram na Expansão Marítima dos séculos XV e XVI. Neste trabalho iremos dar conta da realização desse estudo, levado a cabo com uma turma do 5.º ano de escolaridade. Ao longo do tempo da escolha do tema para o meu relatório, refleti sobre o período histórico da Expansão Marítima. Desta forma, este período histórico significou uma profunda transformação da cultura portuguesa, pela abertura ao mundo e pelo diálogo com outros povos. Partindo dos inúmeros contactos dos navegadores portugueses com os povos indígenas, vivenciados no período de Expansão Marítima, quis aproveitar as palavras então introduzidas na Língua Portuguesa para ensinar História de Portugal, numa perspetiva intercultural, salientando o papel que as especiarias tiveram nesse contexto. Iremos, pois, debruçar-nos sobre as noções de interculturalidade e de diálogo intercultural na formação dos alunos portugueses, na aprendizagem do período histórico da Expansão Marítima. A questão investigativa que norteou o trabalho foi: de que modo é que, na aula de História e Geografia de Portugal, se pode trabalhar com os alunos a questão de a língua se constituir como um repositório de contactos (inter)culturais na época da Expansão Marítima? Quanto à recolha de dados para esta investigação, esta realizou-se durante a implementação das sessões I e II (através de fichas de trabalho e de notas de campo), bem como através de inquéritos por entrevista realizados a professores de História e Geografia de Portugal e de Língua Portuguesa, do 2.º Ciclo. Através da recolha de dados das sessões I e II, posso salientar que os alunos envolvidos nesta investigação puderam, através do processo de ensino-aprendizagem, compreender que este período histórico em estudo foi bastante enriquecedor para a língua portuguesa. Por outro lado, através das entrevistas realizadas aos professores de História e Geografia de Portugal e de Língua Portuguesa, posso referir que estes parecem acreditar que as palavras introduzidas no léxico português são de facto consideradas “documentos históricos”, mas que por sua vez todas as outras épocas históricas nos trazem contribuições lexicais, como é o caso do século XXI.

This Final Report of Internship portrays the work developed in the scope of the Curricular Units of Supervised Pedagogical Practice and in the Seminar of Educational Orientation of the Masters Degree for Primary Education and in the teaching of Portuguese, History and Geography of Portugal in Preparatory School. During the pedagogical practice we planned and implemented two activities in particular, being these about the first contacts that the Portuguese had in the Maritime Expansion in the XV and XVI centuries. In this work we will report on the accomplishment of this study, carried out with a group from the 5th grade of schooling. While choosing the theme for my report, I reflected on the historical period of the Maritime Expansion. This historical period meant a profound transformation of the Portuguese culture portraying its openness to the world and the dialogue with other peoples. Starting from the innumerable contacts of the Portuguese navigators with the indigenous people during the period of Maritime Expansion, I paid close attention to the words introduced in the Portuguese Language, in order to teach History of Portugal from an intercultural perspective, highlighting the role that spices had in this context. We will therefore focus on the notions of interculturality and intercultural dialogue in the training of Portuguese students, while learning the historical period of the Maritime Expansion. The research question that guided this work was: in what way can we work with the students, in the History and Geography class, the question of whether the language is a repository of (inter) cultural contacts in the time of Expansion Maritime? As for the data collection for this research, it was done during the implementation of sessions I and II, alongside with the interviews conducted to teachers from two disciplinary areas in the context of the pedagogical practice in the 5th and 6th grades. In the two sessions I’ve used two research instruments: the worksheets and the notes. I also conducted surveys, by interview, to History and Geography teachers as well as Portuguese Language ones. After the collection of data from sessions I and II, I can highlight that the students involved in this research could understand, through the teaching-learning process, that this historical period in study was quite enriching for the Portuguese language. On the other hand, the instrument of analysis of the interviews conducted to the teachers of History and Geography of Portugal and Portuguese Language, enable me to say that the teachers believe that the words introduced in the Portuguese lexicon are indeed considered "historical documents”. Nevertheless, all other historical epochs brought us lexical contributions, as it is the case of the twenty-first century.
