The present report prepared in the 2018/2019 school year, within the scope of Supervised Teaching Practice, referred to the master’s degree in Music Teaching, in the Variant of Saxophone by the University of Aveiro, encompasses two distinct components. The first component concerns the Report of Supervised Teaching Practice, a major Professional Internship, having elapsed the same, at the Calouste Gulbenkian Conservatory of Music in Aveiro. In this report, all the elements of the STP process will be addressed, from elaborated activities, participants, planning and reports, reflections and acknowledgments. The second component exposes the Research Project, being endowed with two distinct sections (theoretical substantiation/educational project), being the first essential for the execution of the second. Musical Performance Anxiety (MPA), is seen as a condition that can influence not only the level of a performance as well as the well-being and health of an individual, showing this disorder a wide scope, that can be manifested physically or psychologically, in several performative contexts, regardless of age group, experience or previous preparation, through several factors. Despite this wide scope, MPA can and should be attenuated and treated, existing for this purpose, several therapies. This project aimed to investigate the effectiveness of group lessons as a practical and realistic solution in the current context of academic musical formation, aiming at reducing anxiety in musical performance. The investigation was attended by 5 students, ran over 4 months, through the performance of 8 biweekly sessions with pre- and post-methodological performance presentations. The Instruments used to collect data were: STAIC, STAI, MPAI-A and K-MPAI. After the final appreciation of the results it was possible to ascertain the feasibility and relevance of a more extensive investigation, given the diversity of factors inherent to the applied methodology, namely the holistic dimension that it can understand. Regarding the reduction of MPA, it is not possible to infer significant conclusions due to the small sample amplitude. |
