ABSTRACT: This dissertation presents the analysis and physical interpretation of the weather in Mainland Portugal and Madeira, particularly in the cities of Lisbon, Oporto, Faro and Funchal, between the 15th and the 18th November 2009. The location and identification of fronts which conditioned the weather will be investigated. The data made available by the Institute of Meteorology and obtained from the site Satrep Online was considered and analyzed. Additionally, we analyzed the parameters which contributed to the identification of the conceptual model that best fits and applies to the identified cold fronts. To facilitate interpretation and data analysis the data which was available for this dissertation is also presented. The dissertation consists of a description, theoretical, analysis of results and conceptual models, concluding remarks and future perspectives. Finally, this dissertation is expected to be able to promote scientific interest for the analysis and understanding of weather, namely watching and prevention, for being a crucial issue for Civil Protection intervention strategies. | por |
