Funcionalidade e simbologia do animal em fábulas portuguesas e chinesas: uma leitura comparativa

Abstract

Oriunda da tradição oral, a fábula é um género ancestral que tem resistido ao tempo. Género narrativo breve que, regra geral, apresenta uma intriga unilinear e inclui uma moralidade explícita, a fábula tornou-se inseparável da finalidade pedagógica que desde sempre exerceu, tanto junto de públicos adultos, como infantis. A presente dissertação procede a uma análise dos modos e estratégias de figuração do animal em algumas fábulas portuguesas e chinesas. Pretendeu- se, deste modo, desenvolver uma leitura comparativa do corpus fabulístico selecionado, de modo a detetar diferenças e homologias entre os processos de representação animal e determinar a função referencial ou simbólica por eles desempenhada nas fábulas de origem portuguesa e chinesa

Stemming from oral tradition, the fable is an ancestral genre that has endured the passage of time. Usually a short narrative that includes both an elementary plot and an explicit morality, the fable has, from the inception of the form, become indistinguishable from its pedagogical purpose which it never ceased to carry out both with child and adult reading publics. This dissertation seeks to analyze the strategies of animal figuration in some Portuguese and Chinese fables. A comparative reading of a selected corpus is carried out, so as to pinpoint differences and homologies pertaining to processes of animal representation and determine the referential or symbolic function played by them in fables of Portuguese and Chinese origin
