máquina frigorífica This report refers to an internship at Bondalti CHEMICALS having as its main goal the optimization of the chilled water and its respective distribution network in the PCA unit, in order to reproduce the design conditions. From the analysis of the deviations to the design conditions, it is concluded that there is an imbalance between the thermal and the flow requirements, caused mainly by the current operating conditions of the chlorine liquefiers, resulting in the need to keep the four chillers that feed the network in operation instead of the three required by the thermal needs. This not only reduces the energy efficiency of the network, but also eliminates its standby unit. The detailed analysis of the processes of liquefaction and production of hypochlorite, resulted in several measures that on the one hand will allow a greater rationalization of the consumption of chilled water, among them, the change of the sniff line of the liquefiers A and B, or the replacement of the cold utility of the heat exchangers of the caustic soda solutions, and on the other hand a higher chilled water flow availability per chiller. In relation to the network two layouts are proposed as an alternative to the current one a parallel and a series arrangement of the nerwork. The decision regarding the implementation of the change of the sniff line of lines A and B, with an expected cost of at 27,500 €, should be independent of the decision to modify the network since its main benefit is the increase in safety in maintenance operations. It is suggested a stepwise modification of the chilled water network. First, during the general stoppage in January 2018, the current circuit should be modified allowing for the uniform distribution of total thermal load, as well as, the replacement of the cold utility of the heat exchangers of the caustic soda dilution and the adjustment of the set-point of the weak hypochlorite temperature. These changes have an estimated cost of € 51,000 and an expected benefit of € 25,000, thus having a return period of 2 years. It also allows for one of the four machines to be used as a standby unit, as per design. If, after the first phase, flow limitations still persist, a more in-depth evaluation of the measures related to increasing the flow per chiller, replacing liquifies A and B, or changing the network to a series arrangement should be made before any of the three being implemented in an eventual second phase. If thermal do not allow the limitations the operation of the network with three machines, a more profound change of the network will be necessary, since it will require the installation of a fifth chiller |
