Conservação de fachadas azulejadas na cidade de Ovar : comportamento mecânico

Abstract

Sob a óptica da conservação e reabilitação, uma temática a todos os níveis premente em Portugal, o presente trabalho tem como base a conservação de fachadas azulejadas na cidade de Ovar. A dissertação debruçou-se na recolha e caracterização mecânica, química e mineralógica das argamassas históricas das fachadas azulejadas. Englobou ainda a formulação de argamassas de cal aérea e metacaulino para utilização na aplicação de azulejos nas fachadas antigas. Estas foram sujeitas a um conjunto de ensaios mecânicos com o objectivo de as caracterizar e estudar a sua aplicabilidade. Por último foram realizadas aplicações práticas em painéis, posteriormente ensaiados, nas fachadas que sofreram intervenções. Desta forma pretendeu-se estudar a compatibilidade mecânica entre as argamassas antigas e as novas formulações, possibilitando o seu uso nas fachadas azulejadas de muitos edifícios na cidade de Ovar.

ABSTRACT: Under the theme of conservation and rehabilitation, a delicate issue at all levels in Portugal, this work is focused on conservation of glazed tile facades in the city of Ovar. The current study was based on the sampling of historical mortars for their mechanical, chemical and mineralogical characterization. It also involved the formulation of compatible lime based mortars with pozzolanic additions for their use in the application of ancient glazed tile facades. In these, a series of mechanical tests were performed in order to characterize and to study their applicability. Finally, in the facades that have suffered interventions, practical applications were made in panels, which were tested. In this way, this work aims in to the study of the mechanical compatibility between ancient mortars and the new formulations, providing its use in the many historical buildings in the city of Ovar.
