Uso das camadas físicas e de acesso para mapeamento de redes PON

Abstract

Neste trabalho é apresentado um estudo sobre as potencialidades que as camadas física e de convergência em redes de acesso passivas proporcionam para a implementação de estratégias para a monitoria e protecção deste tipo de redes. Os alarmes e mensagens PLOAM (Physical Layer Operations, Administration and Maintenance) existentes são identificados e caracterizados tendo em vista a motivação desta dissertação. São derivados algoritmos e regras de utilização dessas informações em conjunto com outras que se podem obter da camada física para identificar e caracterizar os problemas da rede. Este conjunto de regras e análise são concretizados numa rede anel-árvore passiva por forma a validar a sua aplicabilidade e interesse. Com isto foi possível analisar o tipo de falha ocorrida: falha de serviço ou degradação do sinal e localizar a secção da rede onde ocorreu a falha.

This work presents a study about the potential that the physical layer and convergence layer in passive access networks provide for the implementation of strategies to allow monitoring and protection of these networks. Existing alarms and PLOAM (Physical Layer Operations, Administration and Maintenance) messages are identified and characterized with the purpose of motivation of this thesis. Algorithms and procedures for the use of this information are derived together with other information that can be obtained from the physical layer to identify and characterize network problems. This set of rules and analysis are implemented in a ring-tree passive network in order to validate its applicability and interest. Thus, it was possible to analyze the type of failure occurred: service disruption or signal degradation and locate the network section where the fault occurred.
