A promoção do sentido espacial na criança: uma experiência na educação pré-escolar e no ensino do primeiro ciclo do ensino básico

Abstract

O presente Relatório de Estágio foi realizado no âmbito da Unidade Curricular Seminário de Investigação Educacional A2, tem como objetivo a promoção do sentido espacial na criança, na Educação Pré-Escolar e no 1.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico. A Geometria, em geral, e o raciocínio espacial, em particular, são elementos fundamentais da aprendizagem Matemática logo a partir dos primeiros anos de escolaridade pois permitem relacionar a Matemática com o mundo que nos rodeia. Pretende-se promover o desenvolvimento do sentido espacial, bem como conceder momentos de bem-estar emocional às crianças e identificar as dificuldades manifestadas pelas mesmas relativamente às tarefas de Orientação e Visualização Espacial. Como forma de orientar o estudo, formulei a seguinte questão para investigar: “Quais as principais dificuldades manifestadas pelas crianças perante a resolução de tarefas relacionadas com o sentido espacial?” O estudo segue uma metodologia de investigação de natureza qualitativa, tendo sido realizada a recolha de dados através de notas de campo, fotografias e produções das crianças. As conclusões do estudo realçam a importância do desenvolvimento do sentido espacial nas crianças desde os primeiros anos de escolaridade, apontam as dificuldades apresentadas por elas, e ainda demonstram que a implicação e bem-estar influenciam de forma direta as aprendizagens.

The present Internship Report was carried out within the scope of the Curricular Unit Seminário de Investigação A2, with the purpose of promoting the spatial sense in children, in Pre-School Education and in the 1st Cycle of Basic Education. Geometry, in general, and spatial reasoning, in particular, are fundamental elements of Mathematics learning from the very first years of schooling because they allow us to relate Mathematics to the world around us. It is intended to promote the development of the spatial sense, as well as to grant moments of emotional well-being to the children and to identify the difficulties manifested by them regarding the tasks of Orientation and Space Visualization. As a way of guiding the study, I asked the following question to investigate: "What are the main difficulties expressed by children in solving tasks related to spatial sense?" The study follows a research methodology of a qualitative nature, and data collection was carried out through field notes, photographs and children's productions. The conclusions of the study emphasize the importance of the development of the spatial sense in the children from the first years of schooling, point out the difficulties presented by them, and also demonstrate that the implication and well-being influence the learning directly.
