O papel das estruturas metálicas na reabilitação do edificado antigo

Abstract

Em Portugal a área da reabilitação estrutural do edificado antigo tem apresentado um notório crescimento, em grande parte devido à existência de um vasto património que apresenta necessidades claras de reabilitação e manutenção e a um abrandamento do mercado da construção de novas edificações. Esta dissertação de mestrado aborda o tema da reabilitação do edificado antigo com recurso a soluções metálicas. São apresentadas, detalhadas e identificadas as limitações e as vantagens de soluções metálicas para o reforço do edificado antigo. Estas soluções têm uma aplicabilidade muito elevada na reabilitação, e apresentam-se como alternativas muito válidas quer às soluções originais quer às soluções mais comuns de reforço pela sua elevada compatibilidade e moderada intrusividade. A reabilitação com recurso a soluções metálicas apresenta-se ainda como mais económica, permitindo soluções mais leves que introduzem menos problemas nas estruturas de suporte existentes, nomeadamente as paredes de alvenaria e estrutura de madeira, sendo soluções com elevado grau de reversibilidade

In Portugal, the structural retrofitting of the old building stock has presented a notorious growth especially due to the existence of a vast heritage with clearly needs of rehabilitation and maintenance and a decrease on the construction of new buildings. This dissertation focuses on the rehabilitation of old buildings resourcing to the use of steel solutions. The limitations and advantages of steel solutions to strengthen old buildings are presented, described and detailed. These solutions have an extremely high applicability in rehabilitation and represent valid alternative solutions to either the original solutions or the most common retrofitting solutions due to their high compatibility and moderate intrusiveness. The rehabilitation using steel solutions is a more prominent economical option and allows lighter solutions that introduce less problems to the existing structures, mainly the masonry walls and timber structures, being also solutions with a high degree of reversibility.
