Ciidadania e educação intercultural: um estudo nos primeiros anos de escolaridade

Abstract

Uma vez que a educação intercultural está intimamente ligada a uma educação para a cidadania, faz todo o sentido trabalhá-las em conjunto. Com a globalização que vamos enfrentando é fundamental que a escola eduque de forma a desenvolver a competência intercultural dos alunos e para que estes se tornem futuros cidadãos mais justos e atentos ao outro. Com o intuito de estudar essa problemática desenvolvemos e pusemos em prática um projeto de intervenção, intitulado Diferentes, diferentes, mas todos participantes e posto em prática numa turma de 3.º e 4.º ano do 1.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico. Com este projeto pretendemos dar resposta à seguinte questão de investigação: como podemos educar para a cidadania através da educação intercultural no 1.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico? Para tal pretendemos atingir os seguintes objetivos de investigação: compreender como promover a inclusão da etnia cigana através da educação intercultural e da educação para a cidadania; desenvolver competências profissionais utilizando a educação intercultural e a educação para a cidadania; perceber como podemos mudar a escola através da educação intercultural e da educação para a cidadania. Assim sendo, o presente trabalho é um estudo do tipo investigação-ação, com recolha de dados através da videogravação e essencialmente através da observação participante. Com este trabalho pudemos chegar à conclusão, com a análise dos dados, que os alunos construíram novos conhecimentos no que diz respeito à existência da diferença, bem como desenvolveram as atitudes de respeito e tolerância para com o Outro, ao mesmo tempo que foram valorizando a sua própria cultura.

Since intercultural education is closely connected to an education for citizenship, it makes much sense to work these concepts together. With the process of globalization, it is critical that schools may educate with the aim of developing intercultural competence of the students and also in a way they become fairer future citizens and attentive to their peers. In order to address this topic we developed an intervention project entitled "different , different , but all participants", which was applied to a class of both the 3rd and 4th year, from the 1st level of primary education. With this project we intend to respond to the following research question: how can we educate for the citizenship through intercultural education in the 1st level of primary education. To clarify this question, we intend to achieve the following research objectives: to understand how to promote the inclusion of individuals from the Roma communities through intercultural education and education for citizenship; to develop professional skills using intercultural education and education for citizenship; to understand how one may improve the school through intercultural education and education for citizenship. Therefore, the present work is a study of the type investigation-action, with data collection through video recording and primarily through participant observation. After this work and after the data analysis, we could come to the conclusion that the students built new knowledge regarding the existence of differences and developed attitudes of respect and tolerance towards their peers, while also developing appreciation for their own culture.
