O direito à educação para a diversidade linguística e cultural : um estudo com alunos de etnia cigana nos primeiros anos de escolaridade

Abstract

A universalização do acesso à educação leva ao aumento do conhecimento e do contacto com outras línguas e culturas. Face a esta realidade, o presente trabalho pretende transmitir a necessidade e a importância de uma educação para a diversidade linguística e cultural, através da abordagem aos direitos da criança, aos direitos linguísticos e aos direitos culturais. Para o efeito, foi desenvolvido um projeto de intervenção-investigação, com alunos de etnia cigana que frequentavam os 3.º e 4.º anos de escolaridade de uma turma do 1.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico, intitulado Na escola, eu e tu temos direito a ser diferentes. Este projeto baseou-se numa metodologia qualitativa de tipo investigação-ação e teve como principal questão de investigação: De que forma podemos educar os alunos para os direitos, através da sensibilização à diversidade linguística e cultural? Com base nesta questão, definiram-se os seguintes objetivos de investigação: compreender como promover a inclusão escolar da etnia cigana através sensibilização à diversidade linguística e cultural e através de uma reflexão sobre os direitos; contribuir para a reflexão sobre a abordagem aos direitos na educação para a diversidade linguística e cultural; compreender como se pode educar os alunos para os direitos através da sensibilização à diversidade linguística e cultural. Os dados que resultaram do projeto foram recolhidos através de observação participante, da vídeogravação e de registos individuais dos alunos. Após uma análise categorial, os resultados obtidos permitiram concluir que os alunos evidenciaram curiosidade, interesse e respeito pela diversidade linguística e cultural, mostrando conhecimentos sobre a existência de outros países, línguas e culturas e mobilizando conhecimentos da sua língua para compreender outras. Os alunos também apresentaram atitudes onde evidenciaram o respeito e a valorização de si e do Outro, como seres humanos iguais em direitos, assim como consciência da sua cultura e dos seus direitos, sabendo estar em sociedade e respeitando as culturas dos outros. Em conclusão referem-se quais os contributos deste projeto para os alunos e de que forma é que este estudo contribuiu para o desenvolvimento pessoal e profissional da professora estagiária.

The universalization of the access to education leads to the increase of knowledge and contact with other languages and cultures. Due to this reality, this report wants to show the need and the importance of an education for linguistic and cultural diversity, by aproaching the children’s, linguistics’ and cultural’s rights. For that, a intervention-investigation project was developed, with Romani ethnicity children who were in the 3rd and 4th grades in a class of Primary School, titles In school, you and I have the right to be different. This project was based on a qualititative investigation-action methodology and the following main investigation question: How can we educate students for the rights, through awareness to linguistic and cultural diversity? Based on this question, the following investigation objectives were created: understand how to promote the inclusion of Romani ethnicity through awareness to linguistic and cultural diversity and through a reflection about rights; contribute for the reflection about the approach to rights in education for the linguistic and cultural diversity; understand how to educate the students for the rights through awareness to linguistic and cultural diversity. The data that was resulted from the project were collected through participant observation, video recording and the students’ individual imput. Through a categorical analysis, the results obtained allowed for the conclusion that students showed signs of curiosity, interest and respect for the linguistic and cultural diversity, showing knowledge about the existence of other countries, languages and cultures and mobilizing knowledge of their language to understand others. The students also showed attitudes that translated into respect and value of themselves and the Other, as human beings equal in rights, just like conscience of their culture and rights, knowing how to be in society and respecting the others’ cultures. In summary it is mentioned what this project contributed for the students and how this study contributed for the personal and professional development of the intern teacher.
