Deram-me as asas para eu voar : investigação participativa com jovens em acolhimento

Abstract

O presente trabalho é um projeto de Investigação Participativa, realizado em parceria com quatro jovens que frequentam o ensino superior e que apresentam percursos de vida enquadrados por respostas sociais de acolhimento (Lar de Infância e Juventude e Apartamento de Autonomia). Tendo em conta os contextos de vulnerabilidade e risco social que determinam a institucionalização de crianças, assim como os constrangimentos, dificuldades e limitações que acompanham a experiência de institucionalização prolongada, propusemo-nos desenvolver com estes jovens um projeto que visa, partindo das suas experiências e dos seus significados reconhecidos, contribuir para a reconstrução do lugar social das crianças e jovens institucionalizados e para a promoção da participação social coletiva das crianças mais novas que vivem na Lar de Infância. Para tal, tornou-se necessário reconstruir e compreender o percurso de vida destes jovens, identificando os fatores facilitadores de sucesso escolar e de inclusão social.Pretendia-se, ainda, contribuir para a construção coletiva de mecanismos geradores de participação social. Para o efeito, contamos com técnicas e dispositivos metodológicos desde o Focus Group, Orçamento do Tempo, Círculo de Amigos, Linguagem Musical, Role Playing e Brainstorming neste processo de Investigação Participativa. O decorrer do trabalho foi possível destacar os aspetos subjacentes aos percursos dos jovens, tais como: o papel dos educadores nas relações interpessoais e construção da relação vinculativa, implicando atitudes, por parte da equipa para com os jovens, desde o empenho, dedicação, persistência, acompanhamento e orientação na (re)construção da identidade; comunicação assertiva, horizontal, visando o questionamento e reflexão (jovens-cuidadores); ambiente acolhedor da instituição – relação familiar; empenho, dedicação e esforço por parte das crianças e jovens em construir o seu próprio futuro; (re)construção das relações com os progenitores. Acreditamos que, embora este projeto não tenha culminado numa construção efetiva de mecanismos geradores de participação social das crianças no Lar, todavia terá estimulado e suscitado mudanças nas vidas dos jovens participantes. Quanto às expetativas dos jovens acerca da instituição, um deles afirma: Deram-me asas para eu voar.

The present work is a Participatory Investigation Project that was realized with four young people who attend higher education and who present the paths of their lives that are framed by social responses of foster home (Home of Childhood and Youth and Apartment of Autonomy). Taking into account the contexts of vulnerability and social risk that determine the institutionalization of children, as well as the constraints, difficulties and limitations that accompany the experience of prolonged institutionalization, we set out to develop with these young people a project that aims to contribute to the reconstruction of the social place of children and young people that are institutionalized, and for the promotion of collective social participation of younger children living in Foster Home of Childhood, on the basis of their experiences and recognized meanings. To achieve that we found it necessary to reconstruct and understand the way of life of these young people, identifying the factors of school success and social inclusion. We also intended to contribute to the collective construction of mechanisms of social participation. For this purpose, we applied technical and methodological devices such as the Focus Group, Appropriation of Time, Circle of Friends, Musical Language, Role Playing and Brainstorming in this process of Participatory Research. During the project was possible to highlight the aspects underlying the pathways of young people, such as: the role of educators in interpersonal relations and construction of the necessary relationship, implying the attitudes on the part of the team with the young people, such as commitment, dedication, persistence, monitoring and guidance in (re)construction of identity; assertive, horizontal communication, aiming to the questioning and reflection (youngcaregivers); cozy atmosphere of the institution - family relationship; commitment, dedication and effort on the part of the children and young people to build their own future; (re)construction of relations with their parents. We believe that, even though this project has not culminated in the construction of the effective mechanisms of social participation of children in the Foster Home, however, it could have stimulated and provoked changes in the lives of these young participants. As far as the expectations of young people about the institution, one of them says: They gave me wings for me to fly.
