Ser criança imigrante: (re)construção da identidade e da cidadania

Abstract

Este projeto teve como objetivo aumentar as oportunidades de participação das crianças imigrantes na dinâmica de desenvolvimento da iniciativa Cidade Amiga das Crianças no Município de Aveiro. Para tal procuramos compreender o fenómeno da imigração, a partir do ponto de vista das próprias crianças. Através da escuta da experiencia de imigração e de integração familiar, social e escolar de cinco crianças oriundas de países de Leste da Europa, residentes em Aveiro, procuramos identificar as problemáticas mais relevantes a considerar na discussão sobre as suas circunstancias e condições de integração na Cidade. Os dados foram recolhidos através de entrevistas às crianças e respetivas mães. Na devolução e discussão dos resultados com as crianças entrevistadas, surgiu a proposta de criação de uma rede de apoio social informal entre as crianças nas mesmas circunstâncias, que estivesse acessível nas escolas, desde o momento da sua inserção. Esta proposta permitiu abrir um canal de comunicação entre as crianças deste grupo minoritário e outro grupo que tem vindo a desenvolver o Portal da Criança, como espaço de voz das crianças na Cidade, e como meio de sensibilizar e organizar a população infantil para a implementação dos direitos instituídos pela Convenção dos Direitos da Criança, com a participação e protagonismo das próprias crianças.

This project aimed to increase opportunities for participation of immigrant children in the dynamic development initiated by the Children´s Friendly City in the city of Aveiro . Like that we seek to understand the phenomenon of immigration, from the point of view of the children. Through the listening to the experiences of immigration and integration in the family, social environment and school of five children from the Eastern Europe countries, who live in Aveiro, we seek to identify the most relevant issues to consider in the discussion of the circumstances and conditions of their integration in the City. Data were collected through interviews with children and respective mothers. In return and discuss of the results with the interviewed children, was proposed a creation of an informal network for social support among children in the same circumstances, who were accessible in schools, from the moment of their insertion arose. This proposal allowed to open a channel of communication between the children of this minority group and another group that has been developing the Portal of the Child, as a space for young voices in the City, and as a means of raising awareness and organizing the child population for the implementation of duties imposed by the Convention on the Rights of the Child, with the participation and role of children.
