A produção de tomate industrializado em Portugal

Abstract

Em Portugal, a indústria agroalimentar de tomate é a terceira com maior volume de exportação. Devido à importância desta temática na economia nacional, o objetivo deste trabalho foi estimar uma função oferta e função de produção do tomate industrializado. A estimação das equações foi realizada através de uma análise de regressão linear múltipla, em séries temporais, e de cointegração, no período de 1997 a 2011. Os resultados obtidos demonstram que a superfície agrícola utilizada e o número de produtores/OP’s possuem uma relação inversa na produção de tomate industrializado; variável da taxa de juro real, influência de forma negativa a produção de tomate industrializado.

In Portugal, agribusiness tomato is the third largest in export volume. Due to the importance of this sector in the national economy, the aim of this study was to estimate a production function and a supply function for the tomato industry. The estimation of the equations was performed using a multiple linear regression analysis, time series and cointegration, in the period 1997-2011. The results show that the agricultural area and the number of producers / PO’s have an inverse relationship in tomato production industrialized. Moreover, the real interest rate, influence negatively the production of industrial tomato.
