Tradução de artigos e elaboração de glossário sobre Alzheimer

Abstract

Este projeto foi realizado no âmbito do Mestrado de Tradução Especializada da Universidade de Aveiro. Está dividido em duas etapas distintas, na primeira foi realizada a tradução de dois artigos. O primeiro artigo foi publicado pela Elsevier e o segundo foi publicado no Journal of Neurosciences in Rural Practice. Na segunda etapa foi executada uma análise à tradução e a todos os aspetos que envolvem este processo. O tema abordado em ambos os artigos é a doença de Alzheimer, mais especificamente o diagnóstico da demência de Alzheimer e a depressão em idosos com demência de Alzheimer ou demência vascular. Foi elaborado um glossário com o intuito de fazer um levantamento dos termos médicos existentes e para tornar a tradução coerente e consistente a nível terminológico. Além de apresentarmos o termo em inglês e português, apresentaremos os sites de onde estas informações foram retiradas, assim como forneceremos o contexto onde o termo estava inserido. Como estamos a traduzir artigos científicos, a terminologia repete- se muitas vezes ao longo do texto e para solucionar esse problema utilizamos a ferramenta de apoio à tradução TRADOS.

This project was carried out under the Masters in Specialized Translation from the University of Aveiro. It is divided into two stages. At first two articles were translated, the first was published by Elsevier, and the second was published in the Journal of Neurosciences in Rural Practice. In the second stage it was performed an analysis of the translation and all aspects involving this process. The topic covered in both articles is Alzheimer's disease, specifically the diagnosis of dementia of the Alzheimer type and depression in the elderly with dementia of Alzheimer type or vascular dementia. We made a glossary to list the existent medical terms and also to make the translation coherent and consistent at a terminological level. Besides presenting the terms in English and Portuguese, we will also present the websites where the information was taken and we will also provide a context for the term. Since we are translating scientific article the terminology is repeated many times throughout the text and to solve this problem we used the CAT tool TRADOS.
