Tradução e revisão de protocolos no domínio da bioquímica

Abstract

O presente projeto insere-se no Mestrado em Tradução Especializada em Saúde e Ciências da Vida. Este trabalho visa a tradução de quatro protocolos de kits enzimáticos, destinados exclusivamente para a investigação, e de três protocolos experimentais, utilizados nos laboratórios do Departamento de Química, da Universidade de Aveiro. Pretende-se efetuar uma análise crítica à obrigatoriedade ou não de tradução deste género textual, do ponto de vista legal, quer a nível Europeu quer a nível nacional. Mais do que abordar criticamente a legislação referente à tradução de textos de instruções, o projeto visa principalmente descrever e analisar possíveis problemas de tradução, tendo por base o carácter funcionalista da análise textual de Nord e a organização do método tradutivo proposto por Gouadec. Por último, sendo a revisão uma parte importante no processo de tradução, propõe-se a revisão de um protocolo experimental previamente traduzido, com uma abordagem à Norma Europeia de Tradução no que se refere a esta questão e à aplicabilidade desta à prestação de serviços de um tradutor freelance.

This project is part of the Master’s Degree in Specialised Translation in the field of Health and Life Sciences. The aim is to translate four enzymatic kit protocols, intended to be used for research purposes only, as well as three experimental protocols, used in laboratorial classes at the Department of Chemistry in the University of Aveiro. A critical analysis can be found on this piece of work regarding the matter of whether or not the translation of this text genre is mandatory, from a legal point of view, considering both European and Portuguese legislation. More than just presenting critical considerations regarding legislation on the translation of instrumental texts, the main aim of this project is to describe and analyse possible translation problems, based on the functionalist nature of Nord’s text analysis and the translation methodology by Gouadec. Last but not least, since revision is an important part of the translation process, an approach is made regarding the revision of an experimental protocol previously translated, taking into account the European Standard for Translation Services and its possible application to services provided by freelance translators.
