A figura de Judite na tragédia "Judith" de Rolf Hochhuth

Abstract

O presente trabalho propõe apresentar uma reflexão sobre a influência da personagem bíblica Judite na tragédia Judith do dramaturgo alemão Rolf Hochhut. Pretende-se através do estudo comparativo entre as duas mulheres encontrar os paralelismos e dissemelhanças entre elas bem como o ambiente de tragédia em que gravitam. O mesmo trabalho permitirá não só demonstrar a evolução da mulher e da sua posição na sociedade ao longo dos tempos, mas também salientar a forma como o autor pretende colocar o individuo como agente efetivo de mudança, querendo com isso significar, à semelhança do que acontece com a personagem bíblica, mostrar que a criação dos sistemas políticos vigentes é obra do individuo e que ele poderá decidir com o objetivo de alterar o “aqui e agora”. Estuda-se o contributo verídico, no fundamento real, adjacente à liberdade poética a que o drama deve obedecer, concomitantemente com a liberdade individual de decisão, capaz de contrariar o rumo dos acontecimentos, quebrar ciclos, e assim, provocar mudanças e corrigir erros.

This paper seeks to present a reflection upon the influence of the biblical figure Judite on the main character of the play Judith by the German playwright Rolf Hochhut. Through the comparative study one tries to establish the differences and similarities between both characters and the tragic environment they both live in. It will also show women’s position in society, its evolution throughout history and how the author intends to point out the individual self as actual agent of change, this meaning – as happens with the biblical character – that the rise of a political system is the work of the single individual and how he can change the “here and now”. Under study is reality in its essence with the inherent poetic liberty to which drama should obey, converging with the individual freedom of decision taking, powerful enough to contradict the direction of events, interrupt cycles and thereby provoque change and correct errors.
